Sorry for small image size, I took this of facebook because my friend didn't send me the pictures yet. Anyway this is my Terra Branford cosplay for Animazement 2009. The main idea was to be true to the artwork in terms of the watercolor effect, so I batiked the dress and arm warmers and then painted in the designs with some permanent inks (rather than beading or using acrylics, to name some of the more common approaches people take). I attempted to paint designs on the cape as well, but because of a poor fabric choice it doesn't show up very well in pictures.
If I were to update this cosplay I would first and foremost buy a wig, because even though I have similar hair to Terra's it doesn't really look that nice, and then I would take the time to put on some make up too (even though I hate it). I would also like to try some new things with the cape and the scarves around the hips, and if I really felt like spending money I would consider getting some new shoes. The ones I have are too small and I'd like for them to be redder and flare out more at the top.
It might not be the best Terra cosplay out there to date but I think it has potential to be a lot better if I ever have a reason to wear it somewhere again.
Beautiful You used some wonderful techniques there; I love your idea to use ink to make it look accurate D: I don't think many people would have thought of that :3
Its an utterly gorgeous costume, and I want to see more.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
